Find answers to all of our frequently asked questions below

  • How can I book in for a session with Yorkshire Pooches Therapies?

In order to comply with RCVS and IAAT guidelines, before any session is to go ahead we must have the following paperwork completed.

First step is I need to know more about you and your dog, so I will need the New Customer Form completed.

Second step is for your vet to be emailed a link to our Veterinary Consent Form or if you are going to see your vet in person you can download and print a copy. Please detail in your email/conversation with your Vet why you are looking at Canine Massage i.e multimodal management of Osteoarthritis, showing season, working trials prep ect.

Once all the paperwork is completed you are able to book an appointment.

  • Does my dog need to see a vet before coming to a Yorkshire Pooches Therapies session?

This is dependent on the reason for visiting Yorkshire Pooches Therapies. If this is a new complaint that the vet hasn’t seen before, I would be recommending a check over before booking a session.

If your dog has been recently seen by the Vet, a further visit may not be necessary but this is at your Vets call.

  • What should I bring to a Yorkshire Pooches Therapies session?

Some dogs are quite happy having a massage and a snooze. To get the most out of your session (if you have a wriggle bum) make sure you bring plenty training treats, long lasting chews and or brain games such as lick mats. Raw food is also welcome in clinic.

  • My dog is lame, can they come for a Yorkshire Pooches Therapies session?

Working in accordance with the Veterinary Surgeons act 1966, if your dog is lame they must first be seen by a Vet. If this is part of a recurring and or ongoing issue your vet will still need to see your dog. This is to identify the cause of lameness, possible further diagnostic work needed and whether soft tissue work is a suitable part of treatment. Once your vet is confident of the cause of lameness Yorkshire Pooches Therapies sessions can continue.

  • I am not based in West Yorkshire, how can I access Yorkshire Pooches Therapies services?

If you are further afield than West Yorkshire there are still options available to you and your dog. Along with lots of free informative content on our social media, you can also book a bespoke online consultation. These have been used across the globe from the USA, Europe & UAE and are a great way of having an outside eye look at your dog's overall health.
